(May 4) SAMANTHA WHITE AWARDED AN NCAA POST GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Samantha White of the 2006 National Champion Emory women's swimming and diving team was awarded a $7,500 NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship. White was one of 29 females chosen among those who compete in winter sports. She is the swimming and diving program's sixth recipient of this award.

White is the 2006 NCAA National Champion in the 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle, and now has a total of four career national championship titles and 13 All-America honors.

She also holds school records in the 500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and 800 freestyle relay. She was named the 2006 UAA Female Swimmer of the Year for her achievements in the pool.

Recently White was awarded the The McCord award at the Emory Athletics and Recreation banquet. The award is for an outstanding career or season performance in an individual-based sport by male and female varsity student-athletes.

She is majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology with a GPA of 3.87.


(March 11)NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!

The Emory women's swimming and diving team made it two years in a row, winning back-to-back national championships.  The Eagles finished the meet with 428 points, edging rival Kenyon College who finished with 418 points.

The blue and gold opened the meet in style, with senior Sam White winning her second national championship of the season and fourth of her outstanding career.  She won the 1650 yard freestyle in a time of 16:56.72 for 20 points.

Finishing second was senior Holly Hinz with a 16.59.70 for 17 points.  Freshman Kate Gunning was ninth at 17:17.92 for nine points, while senior Suzanna Zifkin was 13th at 17:26.75 for four points.

In the 200 yard backstroke freshman Tess Pasternak finished second, touching the wall at 2:03.04 for 17 points.  Senior Sarah Gardiner claimed seventh with a time of 2:06.33 for 12 points.

In the consolation final, junior Jamie Lawler was 15th at 2:08.84 for two points and freshman Sarah Axtell was 16th at 2:09.97 for one point.

Junior Ali Smith took sixth in the 200 yard breaststroke, adding 13 points to the team total with a time of 2:32.62.  Sophomore Ellen Flader was 10th in the consolation final for five points with a time of 2:24.57.

In the 100 yard freestyle, freshman Sara Hostalet took 16th place after finishing with a 53.90, scoring one point.

Gardiner and Zifkin each competed in the consolation final of the 200 yard butterfly, finishing 14th and 16th, respectively.  Gardiner scored two points with a 2:08.77 and Zifkin tallied one point with a 2:10.43.

The final event of the evening, the 400 yard freestyle, saw Emory wrap up its second consecutive title with a 12th-place finish in the consolation final.  The relay team consisted of Hinz, freshman Lyle Holmes, Hostalet and Lawler finished in a time of 3:32.95.


(March 10) EMORY TAKES OVER FIRST PLACE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

With a solid outting during the second day of the NCAA Championships, the Emory women's swimming and diving squad moved into first place with 311 points. The defending national champions hold a 37 point lead over Kenyon College with the final day of competition ahead.

Emory claimed two second-place finishes during the relays on Friday. The 200 yard medley relay team of freshman Sara Hostalet, sophomore Ellen Flader, junior Sarah Nicholson and junior Jamie Lawler finished with a time of 1:46.03 for 34 points. The 800 yard freestyle relay team of senior Sam White, Hostalet, junior Ali Smith and senior Holly Hinz took second with a 7:36.78.

Hostalet also had a strong showing in the 100 yard backstroke touching the wall at 57.58 for second place and 17 points. Freshman Tess Pasternak was right behind Hostalet in third with a 57.89 for 16 points. Lawler took ninth, competing in the consolation final with a 58.29 for seven points.

The 400 yard individual medley had two Eagles in the top four with Hinz finishing third and Smith taking fourth. Hinz finished with a 4:27.91 for 16 points, while Smith finished at 4:28.79 for 15 points. Senior Karyn Henderson took 12th in the consolation final at 4:34.04 for 5 points.

White added another top finish to her resume in the 200 yard freestyle where she finished seventh in a time of 1:53.81 for 12 points. Flader also finished seventh in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.50 for 12 points.

Competing in the 100 yard butterfly consolation final was freshman Laura Conter and junior Sarah Nicholson who finished 12th and 15th respectively. Conter was timed at 58.09 for five points, while Nicholson was at 59.30 for tw points.

The Eagles will look to claim their second straight national championship Saturday with the final day of competition.


(March 9) EMORY STANDS SECOND AFTER FIRST DAY OF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

After the first day of competition at the 2006 NCAA National Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., the Emory women's swimming and diving squad stands second with 134 points. Kenyon College (Ohio) has 151 to lead the defending national champion by 17 points.

Highlighting competition from day one was senior stand-out Samantha White winning the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 4:55.24, earning the squad 20 points. This marks her third national title in an event as she claimed the 500 yard free last season, as well as being a member of the 800 yard freestyle relay.

Finishing third in the 500 yard free was senior Holly Hinz with a time of 4:58.15, earning the squad 16 points.

Emory claimed two top five finishes in the relay events. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the team of freshmen Sarah Hostelet and Lyle Holmes and juniors Sarah Nicholson and Jamie Lawler finished third with a time of 1:36.30 for 32 points. In the 400 yard medley relay Emory took fifth for 32 points. The relay team included freshman Tess Pasternak, sophomore Ellen Flader, freshman Laura Conter and Lawler.

In the 200 yard individual medley B-final, junior Ali Smith finished ninth with a 2:08.21 for nine points, while Pasternak finished 11th with a 2:08.51 for six points.

Holmes competed in the 50 yard freestle B-final, finishing 14 to add three points to the team's total.

In diving, senior Lisa Parton claimed eighth in the 1-meter diving with a score of 393.60 for 11 points.

The Eagles return to the pool Friday for day two. Events scheduled for tomorrow include the 200 yard medley relay, 400 yard individual medley, 100 yard butterfly, 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard backstroke and 800 yard freestyle relay.


(Feb. 18) EMORY WINS EMORY INVITATIONAL

Emory finished first among three teams in the Emory Invitational.  The Eagles won six events and earned eight provisional qualifications for the NCAA Division III national championships.

Emory took first through third in the 500-yard freestyle led by, sophomore, Michelle Faurot who earned a provisional qualification for nationals with her time in this event.  Faurot also earned a provisional qualification in the 200-yard backstroke.

Sophomore, Randi Palmer and, sophomore, Mackenzi Hurlston finished first and second, respectively in the 200-yard individual medley.  Palmer earned a provisional qualification with her time in the event.

Freshman, Lara Magnabosco and, freshman, Elizabeth Levine took first and second, respectively in the 50-yard freestyle while, freshman, Brittany Baker won the 100-yard butterfly competition.

The Eagles took first through third in the 200-yard freestyle led by, freshman, Lara Ortega.

Emory also took first through third in the 100-yard breaststroke led by, sophomore, Randi Palmer.

Freshman, Sarah Axtell earned a provisional qualification with her winning time in the 100-yard backstroke.  Emory finished first through third in this event.  Axtell also earned a provisional qualification in the 200-yard backstroke.

Junior, Sarah Nicholson and, junior, Keely Delcore finished first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle competition.  Both swimmers earned provisional qualifications for nationals with their times.

Sophomore, Sarah Coyle earned a provisional qualification for nationals with her winning time in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Senior, Sarah Gardiner also earned a provisional qualification for nationals in the 200-yard butterfly competition.


(Feb. 17) EMORY EARNS SIX MORE QUALIFICATIONS FOR NATIONAL IN DAY 1 OF EMORY INVITATIONAL

The Eagles had a strong first day in the Emory Invitational with six provisional qualifications for the NCAA Division III national championships.

Freshman, Kate Gunning won the 1650-yard freestyle competition and earned a provisional qualification for nationals in this event.

Sophomore, Randi Palmer earned a provisional qualification for nationals in the 400-yard individual medley while, senior, Sam White and, freshman, Laura Ortega both earned provisional qualifications in the 200-yard freestyle.

Junior, Sarah Nicholson and, sophomore, Lauren Bernstein both earned provisional qualifications for nationals in the 100-yard backstroke competition.

Emory continues competition in the Emory Invitational tomorrow.


(Feb. 11) EMORY BREAKS NINE CONFERENCE MARKS IN EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE UAA CHAMPIONSHIP

After the final day of competition Emory finishes first out of 8 teams in the UAA championships with a score of 1,166.50.  Today Emory won a relay event, four individual events, and a diving event.  The Eagles also earned two automatic qualifications for the NCAA Division III national championships.

Senior, Sam White started the day with win in the 1650-yard freestyle competition with a time of 17:10.81 that gave her an automatic qualification for nationals.

Freshman, Tess Pasternak, senior, Sarah Gardiner and, junior, Jamie Lawler finished first through third, respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke. Pasternak touched the wall first in a time of 2:06.52. Gardiner was right behind with a 2:06.69 and Lawler third at 2:06.98.

Freshman, Lyle Holmes and, junior, Keely Delcore finished first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle competition. Holmes took top honors with a time of 53.21, which is a NCAA "B" cut. Delcore finished with a time of 53.44.

Sophomore, Ellen Flader won the 200-yard backstroke competition with a time of 2:24.53.

Senior, Lisa Parton won the 3-meter diving competition to make it a clean sweep as she also won the 1-meter diving.

Emory's 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of, junior, Keely Delcore, junior, Sarah Nicholson, freshman Lyle Holmes and, junior, Jamie Lawler earned an automatic qualification for nationals with their winning time.  Their time of 3:29.65 set a new conference mark surpassing the old mark of 3:32.48 set in 2003.

The Eagles also earned numerous season honors this year in the UAA.  Senior, Sam White was named Female Swimmer of the Year.  Senior, Lisa Parton was awarded Female Diver of the Year.  Freshman, Tess Pasternak received Female Rookie of the Year honors.  Alex Kossenkov was named the Female Diving Coach of the Year.  The Emory coaching staff was also named Co-Coaches of the Year.

With this win, Emory secures its eighth consecutive UAA championship and its fourteenth in the last sixteen years. The Eagles have one more meet, the Emory Invitational (Feb. 17-18), before they travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to prepare defense of their 2005 NCAA Division III National Championship.

(Feb. 10) EMORY INCREASES LEAD IN DAY TWO OF UAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Emory University remains in first place at the UAA Championships with a score of 736 which gives them a lead of 361 points after the second day.  Emory won a relay event and four individual events in today's competition.  They also earned seven automatic qualifications for the NCAA Division III national championships.

Emory's 800-yard freestyle relay team consisting of, freshman, Lara Ortega, senior, Sam White, senior, Suzanna Zifkin and, senior, Holly Hinz set a new conference mark of 7:39.48 which broke the mark of 7:41.09 set last year.  The team also earned an automatic qualification for nationals with their winning time in this event.

Senior, Holly Hinz and, senior, Karyn Henderson finished first and second, respectively, in the 400-yard individual medley.  Both swimmers earned an automatic qualification for national and Hinz set a new conference mark of 4:28.08 which replaced the time of 4:30.13 set in 2004 in this event.

Sophomore, Ellen Flader won the 100-yard breaststroke and set a new conference mark of 1:05.41 which broke the previous mark of 1:06.43 set in 2001.

Junior, Jamie Lawler, freshman, Sara Hostalet, freshman, Tess Pasternak and, junior, Sarah Nicholson finished first through fourth, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke.  Lawler, Hostalet, and Pasternak each earned automatic qualifications for nationals.  Lawler set a new conference mark of 58.00 which broke the current mark of 58.55 set in 2001.

Senior, Sam White also earned an automatic qualification for nationals with her winning time in the 200-freestyle competition


(Feb. 9) EMORY RACES OUT TO BIG LEAD AFTER DAY ONE OF UAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

After the first day of competition Emory University is in first place with 370 points.  The Eagles are currently leading the competition by 207.  Emory won two relay events, one individual event, and a diving event in today's competition. The Eagles also set four new conference marks.

The Eagles won both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay. Emory set a new conference mark in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:36.43 which broke the old record of 1:37.52 set in 2001. The 200-yard relay team consisted of, freshman, Sara Hostalet, freshman, Lyle Holmes, freshman, Laura Ortega and, junior, Jamie Lawler.

The Eagles also set a new conference mark in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:52.41 which broke the old mark of 3:55.34 set last year. The 400-yard relay team consisted of, junior, Jamie Lawler, sophomore, Ellen Flader, freshman, Laura Conter and, freshman, Lyle Holmes.

Senior, Sam White won the 300-yard freestyle competition while, senior, Holly Hinz finished third in this event. White set a new conference mark with a time of 4:58.62 which broke the old mark of 4:59.52 set in 2003.

The Eagles finished second through fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with, sophomore, Ellen Flader finishing second.

Junior, Jamie Lawler and, freshman, Lyle Holmes finished second and third, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle.

Senior, Lisa Parton took first place in the one-meter diving competition and set a new conference mark with a score of 430.65 which broke the old mark of 409.15 set in 2000.


(Jan. 28) EMORY FALLS TO GEORGIA TECH 161-139

Emory's women's swimming and diving squad pushed Division I Georgia Tech to the limit Saturday before falling 161-139 at Tech.

The Eagles turned in a solid performance, winning three individual events and two relays.

The 200 yard medley relay team of Sara Hostalet, Ellen Flader, Sarah Nicholson and Jamie Lawler touched the wall first in a time of 1:49.36.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team also took home first place honors in a time of 1:39.40. Making up that team was Hostalet, Lyle Holmes, Keely Delcore and Lawler.

Holly Hinz claimed the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:12.02. Randi Palmer finished second in a time of 2:14.48.

Tess Pasternak won the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 59.21, while Flader finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:07.31.

Emory now sets its sights on the University Athletic Association Championships, Feb. 8-11 at the Woodruff P.E. Center. Emory has won 13 conference titles in all and the last seven.


(Jan. 21) EMORY DEFEATS TRANSYLVANIA UNIVERSITY

Emory University defeated Transylvania University.  The Eagles won seven individual events, one relay, and both diving competitions.

Freshman, Kate Gunning won the 1650-yard freestyle while, junior, Sarah Nicholson won the 100-yard backstroke.

Freshman, Laura Conter and, senior, Karyn Henderson finished first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly competition.

Sophomore, Randi Palmer won the 200-yard freestyle while, junior, Ali Smith won the 400-yard individual medley.  Emory took first through third in each of these events.

Freshman, Lyle Holmes won the 50-yard freestyle competition while, freshman, Sara Hostalet won the 100-yard freestyle.  The Eagles also finished first through third in these two events.

Senior, Lisa Parton won both diving events, while, junior, Erin Graves finished second in the three-meter diving competition.

Emory also won the 200-yard medley relay.

Emory is currently 8-2 this season in dual meets


(Jan. 14) EMORY DEFEATS SAVANNAH COLLEGE OF ARTS AND DESIGN

The Eagles defeated the Savannah College of Arts and Design by a score of 123-70.  Emory won two relay events and six individual events.

Freshman, Kate Gunning and, senior, Karyn Henderson finished first and second, respectively, in the 1000-yard freestyle competition.

Senior, Holly Hinz won both the 400-yard individual medley and the 100-yard freestyle.  The Eagles finished first through fifth in the 400-yard individual medley.

Senior, Sam White and, junior, Ali Smith took first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle.

Freshman, Sara Hostalet won the 50-yard freestyle while, sophomore, Ellen Flader finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke.  Emory took first through fifth in this event.

Emory won both the 400-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley relay events.

With this win Emory moves to a record of 7-2 in dual meets this season


(Jan. 12) EMORY DEFEATS THE UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA

Emory University defeated the University of Tampa 153-108.  The Eagles won eight individual events in the meet.

Freshman, Sara Hostalet, freshman, Kate Gunning and, junior, Sarah Nicholson finished first through third, respectively, in the 100-yard freestyle competition.  Hostalet also won the 50-yard freestyle.

Sophomore, Ellen Flader and, junior, Ali Smith finished first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard breaststroke.  Flader also won the 100-yard breaststroke.

Senior, Sam White won the 1000-yard freestyle as the Eagles took first through third in this event.

Senior, Holly Hinz won the 500-yard freestyle competition while, senior, Sarah Gardiner won the 200-yard butterfly competition.  Senior, Karyn Henderson finished second in each of these events.

Freshman, Tess Pasternak won the 100-yard backstroke.

The Eagles are currently 6-2 in dual meets this season


(Dec. 10) EMORY DEFEATS ROLLINS COLLEGE
The Eagles defeated Rollins College this Saturday 138-97.  Emory won two relay events and six individual events.

Led by senior, Karen Henderson, who finished first, the Eagles took first through fifth in the 1000-yard freestyle.  The Eagles also finished first through fifth in the 200-yard freestyle, led by, freshman, Sara Hostalet who won the event.

Junior, Jamie Lawler finished first in the 50-yard freestyle, while, senior, Sam White won the 200-yard butterfly competition.  The Eagles finished first through fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and first through third in the 200-yard butterfly.

Senior, Sarah Gardiner and, sophomore, Michelle Faurot finished first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke. 

Senior, Holly Hinz and, freshman, Hayley Heaton finished first and second, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Emory also took first through fourth in the 400-yard medley relay and first through third in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The Eagles are currently 4-2 in dual meets this season


(Dec. 3) EMORY WRAPS UP COMPETITION AT MIAMI INVITATIONAL
The Emory women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the Miami Invitational.

Highlighting the final day was Sam White finsihing second in the 500 yard freestyle. White touched the wall in a time of 4:59.33.

Tess Pasternak finished sixth in the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:06.41, while Laura Conter finished 12th in the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 58.11. Ali Smith claimed an eighth-place finish in the 200 yard individual medley, touching the wall at 2:09.47.

The 200 yard medley relay team of Sara Hostalet, Jess Ivry, Conter and Lyle Holmes finish sixth in a time of 1:47.60.

Emory returns to action next Saturday as it plays host to Rollins College (Fla.) at the Woodruff P.E. Center. Meet time is set for 11:30 a.m.


(Dec. 3) EMORY DEFEATS SEWANEE
The Emory women's swimming and diving team played host to the Sewanee: the University of the South on Saturday. The Eagles turned in a solid performance winning 12 events.

Molly Engelmeier and Sam Gillen each claimed first place in two events. Engelmeier won the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 55.14, as well as the 200 yard freestyle in 1:58.64. Gillen claimed top honors in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. She finished the 100 at 1:08.94 and the 200 in 2:32.11.

Sarah Axtell won the 100 yard backstroke at 1:00.26, while Sarah Coyle took first in the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:12.21.

Other winners included Lara Magnabosco in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 24.98, Kate Gunning in the 500 yard freestyle (5:14.33), and Randi Palmer in the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:12.69.

Lisa Parton won the 1 meter diving with a final score of 274.70, while Jacki Powers finished second with a 231.20.

Emory returns to action with its second-straight home meet, Saturday, Dec. 10, when it welcomes Rollins College (Fla.) to the Woodruff P.E. Center for an 11:30 a.m. meet.


(Dec. 2) EAGLES FINISH SECOND DAY AT MIAMI INVITATIONAL
Emory University concluded the second day of competition at the Miami Invitational.

Turning in solid performances for the day included Sarah Gardiner in the 100 yard backstroke and Sarah Hostalet in the 100 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle. Gardiner finished first in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:01.35. Hostalet finished sixth in the 100 yard backstroke at 58:50, as well as the 50 yard freestyle at 24.32.

Competing in the 400 yard women's individual medley, Ali Smith finished in the top 10 in seventh with a time of 4:31.53.

The team of Lyle Holmes, Hostalet, Keely Delcore and Jamie Lawler finished sixth in the women's 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:37.06.

Emory returns to action tomorrow with the final day of competition. The squad will be split tomorrow with the other half of the squad at home at the Woodruff P.E. Center as it hosts the University of the South.


(Dec. 1) EMORY CONCLUDES FIRST DAY OF MIAMI INVITATIONAL
Emory University concluded the first day of the Miami Invitational with two races.

Highlighting the evening competition was Sam White finishing fifth in the 1650 freestyle in a time of 17:17.86. Suzanna Zifkin also competed, touching the wall at 17:54.00 to finish 19th.

The 800 yard freestyle relay team comprised of Karyn Henderson, Lara Ortego, Ali Smith and Holly Hinz finished 11th in a time of 7:51.75.

The Eagles return to the pool Friday and Saturday to continue competition.


(Nov. 18) EAGLES FALL TO UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA
Emory University lost to NCAA Division I University of Georgia 172-116.  The Eagles had strong individual efforts in the meet.

Freshman, Tess Pasternak finished second in both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke competitions.

The Eagles are currently 3-2 in dual meets this season.


(Nov. 5) EMORY WINS CARNEGIE MELLON INVITATIONAL
Emory University finished first among four teams at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.  The Eagles won 13 individual events and four relay events.

Freshman, Tess Pasternak qualified for the NCAA Division III national championships in two events.  Pasternak won both the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke.  Her times in both of these events were automatic qualifications for the national championships. Pasternak also won the 200-yard individual medley.

Senior, Holly Hinz won the 200-yard freestyle competition, the 500-yard freestyle competition, and the 400-yard individual medley.  Hinz' time in the 400-yard individual medley also earned her a provisional qualification for nationals.  Junior, Ali Smith and, senior, Karyn Henderson also qualified provisionally for nationals in the 400-yard individual medley.

Sophomore, Ellen Flader won the 100-yard breastroke while, junior, Ali Smith won the 200-yard breastroke.

Freshman, Sara Hostalet finished first in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle competition while, senior, Sam White won the 1650-yard freestyle.

Freshman, Laura Conter won the 100-yard butterfly while, senior, Sarah Gardiner placed first in the 200-yard butterfly competition.

The Eagles won all four relay events at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.  Emory earned a provisional qualification for nationals in the 200-yard medley relay.

The Eagles are currently 3-1 this season.


(Oct. 29) EMORY LOSES CLOSE MATCH TO DIVISION I SCHOOL
Emory lost a close match against NCAA Division I University of North Carolina Wilmington 131-164.  The Eagles placed first in five individual events.

Senior, Holly Hinz finished first in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.  Freshman, Lara Ortega placed second in the 200-yard freestyle while, senior, Sam White finished second in the 500-yard freestyle.

Freshman, Tess Pasternak also finished first in two events.  Pasternak placed first in both the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley.

Freshman, Laura Conter also finished first in the 100-yard butterfly competition.

The Eagles are currently 3-1 this season.


(Oct. 22) EAGLES WIN SECOND MEET OF SEASON
Emory won its second meet of the season against Georgia Southern University and The University of New Orleans.  The Eagles won both diving events and all but one individual event.

Senior, Holly Hinz won both the 100-yard freestyle competition and the 400-yard individual medley.  The eagles as a team placed first through third in the 100-yard freestyle and first and second in the 400-yard individual medley.

Senior, Lisa Parton won both diving events with, junior, Erin Graves and, sophomore, Jacki Powers finishing second and third, respectively, in the 1-meter diving competition.

Freshman, Sara Hostalet, finished first in the 50-yard freestyle, while, senior, Sam White took first in the 200-yard freestyle.  Emory placed first through third in the 50-yard freestyle competition and first through fifth in the 200-yard freestyle.

Senior, Karyn Henderson won the 500-yard freestyle competition and, junior, Caitlin Hoey placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle competition.

Freshman, Laura Conter finished first in the 100-yard butterfly competition while, freshman, Tess Pasternak took first in the 100-yard backstroke.

With this win Emory moves to 2-0 on the season.


(Oct. 15) EMORY OPENS SEASON WITH VICTORY OVER DAVIDSON
Emory University won their season opening meet against Davidson College 140.5 to 100.5.  The Eagles won six individual events, one relay event, and both diving events.

Senior, Sam White won both the 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle competitions, while freshman, Sara Hostalet won both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle competitions.

Senior, Holly Hinz finished first in the 200-yard freestyle, and freshman, Tess Pasternak won the 200-yard backstroke.

The Eagles placed first and second in both diving events.  Sophomore, Amanda Moser won the 1-meter diving competition with, senior, Lisa Parton placing first in the 3-meter diving competition.

Emory also finished first in the 400-yard medley relay.

With this win Emory opens the season with a record of 1-0.
