Emory Athletics Teams Up With Boxcast To Enhance Video Streaming Efforts

With the goal of enhancing the viewing experience for its fan base, Emory University athletics earlier in the school year announced that BoxCast, LLC as the online video platform host for the department's home athletic webcasts.

For the Emory Swimming and Diving meets against Georgia Tech (Jan. 18) and the University of the South (Feb. 1), those who choose to watch the Emory webcasts in standard definition can do so at no charge.  There will also be an option to upgrade to a high-definition version of the particular webcast for a nominal fee.

The viewer will be able to purchase the HD upgrade option prior to the event or once the event has started.  The viewer will see a 90-second preview in HD format when they click the URL if the broadcast has started.

Similar plans have already been rolled out for the Emory men’s and women’s basketball teams and will also include the Eagles’ baseball, softball and track and field programs once those seasons begin.

Based out of Cleveland, Ohio, BoxCast has developed a plug-and-play box that allows anyone with a camera to stream standard and high-definition live video.  The device then captures and transmits video to BoxCast's secure cloud-based servers making the video available to be viewed on any number of devices including practically any smartphone, laptop or tablet computer.

Fans can continue to access Emory's webcasts through links on the main page, team schedule pages and the multimedia pull-down menu on EmoryAthletics.com.
