McKenna Newsum-Schoenberg

Emory University senior McKenna Newsum-Schoenberg won the National Championship in the 200-yard butterfly at the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships last week.  Newsum-Schoenberg won the event with a school-record time of 2:00.43 in the finals, giving her the first National Title of her career, and the 27 individual title in the program’s history.  She added an All-America finish in the 500-yard freestyle, placing seventh in the finals after swimming a time of 4:51.37 in the preliminaries, and earned an all-America honorable mention in the 1,650-yard freestyle, finishing ninth with a time of 16:58.27.  Newsum-Schoenberg ended her Emory career eight all-America honors and four all-America honorable mentions.  She scored 41 points for the Eagles, helping Emory win its sixth-consecutive NCAA Division III Championship and its eighth overall.
