Swimming & Diving Set for Tri-Meet Against UWF and Delta St.

The Emory University swimming and diving teams return to the pool this Saturday with a tri-meet against a pair of Division II squads, Delta State and West Florida. The meet is set to begin at 11:00 am CST and will be held on the campus of UWF in Pensacola, Fla.

The Eagle women are coming off a 167-78 victory over Florida Southern on January 8th and currently enter the weekend as the number two in the country in the latest collegeswimming.com rankings, trailing only Kenyon College. Delta State comes into the meet as the fifth ranked school in the rankings at the Division II level while West Florida is seated in the 10th spot. The Lady Statesmen are 6-1 on the season including a pair of wins over Henderson State and UWF last weekend. The Argonauts are 6-6 on the year and are coming off a win over Henderson St. while dropping the decision to Delta State.

Emory is 1-0 over UWF all-time, defeating the Argonauts 130.5-103.5 last season. The Blue and Gold also own a 1-0 edge over the Lady Statesmen with a 145-120 score when the teams last squared off in 2010.

On the men’s side, the Eagles look to rebound following a 151-94 defeat to Florida Southern but will head into the meet as the third ranked team in Division III behind Denison University and Kenyon. Delta State, ranked second in the Division II poll, and like their women’s team are also 6-1 on the campaign. The Statesmen have picked up a pair of victories since the calendar flipped to 2016 including a win over Henderson State last Friday.

Emory is 1-0 all-time against DSU, picking up a 163.5-116.5 win back in January 2010.
