Gold Defeats Blue, 175-119, in Women's Swimming & Diving Intrasquad Meet

The Emory University Women's Swimming & Diving Gold team defeated the Blue squad 175-119 in the team's annual intrasquad meet Friday afternoon at the Madeline June Brown Aquatic Center inside the Woodruff PE Center.

The Emory Gold team recorded 12 victories out of the 16 events at the meet with four different Eagles posting two individual wins to lead the team. Junior Rebecca Upton claimed first in the 1000 Free and 200 Butterfly, sophomore Fiona Muir touched first in the 50 and 100 Free and sophomore Ashley Daniels finished in the top spot in the 100 and 200 Breast. Sophomore Emma Watson added a pair of wins, winning both diving events.

Adding event wins for the Gold team were junior Sia Beasley in the 100 Back and junior Cindy Cheng in the 200 Back. The Gold team also bested Blue in both relay events with Cheng, senior Annelise Kowalsky and freshmen Nadia Riverso and Maria Kyle winning the 200 Medley and Beasley, Riverso, Cheng and Muir closing out the meet with a victory in the 200 Free.

For the Blue side, junior Ming Ong registered a meet-bet three individual event wins, touching first in the 200 Free, 500 Free and the 200 IM. Also winning for the Blue team was senior Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe in the 100 Fly.

The Eagles return to the pool next Saturday, October 22nd as the team hosts Queen University of Charlotte in the first dual meet of the 2016-17 season.
