Women's Swimming & Diving Rolls Past SCAD, 146-97

The Emory University Women's Swimming & Diving team improved to 2-0 on the season, defeating the defending 2015-16 NAIA National Champions Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) 146-97 on Saturday afternoon at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center inside the Woodruff PE Center.

The Eagles recorded 36 top-three finishes including 12 event victories to go along with four NCAA "B Cut times in the win over the Bees.

Senior Annelise Kowalsky, juniors Ming Ong, Cindy Cheng and sophomore Fiona Muir each claimed a pair of first place wins to lead Emory on Saturday. Kowalsky in the 100 Breast (1:05.32) and 200 Breast (2:21.71 - NCAA B Cut). Ong touched first in the 1000 Free (10:26.21) and in the 400 IM (4:31.22 – NCAA "B" Cut). Cheng also posted a NCAA "B" Cut, winning the 200 Free with a time of 1:51.59. She later added a win in the 500 Free with a time of 5:01.76. Muir had event victories in the 50 Free (24.12) and 100 Fly (57.87). Cheng and Muir were also part of Emory's first place 200 Free Relay team, teaming with senior Claire Liu and freshman Nadia Riverso to swim a time of 1:36.31 and the 200 Medley Relay with sophomores Ashley Daniels and Meg Taylor (1:45.92).

Adding first place wins for the Eagles at the meet were junior Sia Beasley with a NCAA "B" Cut time in the 100 Back (58.20), senior Marissa Bergh in the 100 Free (53.18), freshman Caroline Olson in the 200 Back (2:07.68) and the 200 Medley Relay team of Liu, Kowalsky, Bergh and freshman Maria Kyle (1:45.92).

The Eagles will be back in action with both the Miami Invitational in Oxford, OH and the SCAD Invitational in Savannah, GA from December 1st-3rd.
