Swimming & Diving Sweep Dual Meet at Birmingham-Southern

The Emory University swimming and diving teams were back in action Saturday morning, sweeping Birmingham-Southern College in dual meet competition at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, AL.

The Eagles swept the meet with the women winning 166-96 and the men winning by a 162-98 margin. Emory was victorious in all 30 events on the day.

For the women, sophomore Sloane Donovan, senior Clio Hancock and sophomore diver Tess Klugherz were double event winners. Donovan touched first in the distance freestyle events, winning the 500 Free at 5:12.68 and the 1000 Free at 10:39.15. Hancock was a winner in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.04 and in the 200 Fly at 2:05.27 and in the diving, Klugherz swept both events, posting scores of 229.80 on the 1-meter board and 238.42 on the 3-meter.

Adding individual event wins on the afternoon for the women were sophomore Moshelle Borjigin in the 100 Backstroke (59.72), junior Anna Glowniak in the 100 Breaststroke (1:07.07), sophomore Megan Jungers in the 100 Fly (57.47), junior Nina Turcanu in the 200 Freestyle (1:57.48), senior Taylor Leone in the 50 Freestyle (24.32), senior Cailen Chinn in the 100 Freestyle (53.53), junior Savannah Sowards in the 200 Backstroke (2:07.85) and sophomore Fiona Arwood in the 200 Breaststroke (2:22.63).

Over on the men's side, sophomore Jake Meyer, freshman Crow Thorsen and junior Lucas Bumgarner were two-time event winners to lead the Eagles. Meyer was a double winner in the 100 Breaststroke (56.35) and 200 Breaststroke (2:05.72) and Thorsen touched first in both the 200 IM (1:55.39) and 200 Fly (1:53.51). In the diving events, Bumgarner recorded scores of 315.10 in the 1-meter and 363.30 in the 3-meter.

Registering individual event wins as well for the Emory men on Saturday were junior Ryan Soh in the 100 Backstroke (50.92), senior Sean Byman in the 100 Fly (51.54), sophomore Logan D'Amore in the 100 Freestyle (10:05.53), junior Pat Pema in the 200 Freestyle (1:40.87), senior Hwa Min Sim in the 50 Freestyle (21.63), sophomore Nicholas Goudie in the 100 Freestyle (45.53), senior Alex Feldman in the 200 Backstroke (1:52.03) and senior Zach Lorsen in the 500 Freestyle (4:50.19).

Next up for the Eagles will be their home fall invitational on November 5th and 6th.
