Lucas Bumgarner & Tess Klugherz Sweep Saturday Events at NCAA Diving Regionals

Junior Lucas Bumgarner and sophomore Tess Klugherz swept both diving events Saturday afternoon as the NCAA Diving Regionals concluded at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.

For the third consecutive regional, Bumgarner came away with a win in the men's 1-meter event as he won convincingly with 512.60 points. Bumgarner, who also won the 3-meter event on Friday, scored nearly 78 points better than the second place finisher and posted his highest round score in the final round at 62.40 on his forward 1 ½ somersault 2 twist free attempt.

For the women, Klugherz scored 414.00 to outpace the 19-diver field to win the women's 3-meter. Klugherz's best round came in round six as the judges awarded her 49.20 on a forward 2 ½ somersault pike.

Freshman Ariana Khan bolstered her case to claim one of the six NCAA allocations on the women's side as she finished fourth with a score 381.95, following up her third place finish in the 1-meter on Friday.

Sophomore Alex York rounded out the Emory divers in action on Saturday as he placed eighth with a score of 356.30.

The official announcement for who will be awarded the six women's NCAA allocations and four men's allocations will be made public by March 7th.
