Women's Swimming & Diving Finish as National Runners-Up

The 2023 NCAA Division III Championships came to a close for the Emory University swimming & diving team with the Eagles finishing the year as the national runners-up!

The Eagles finished the four-day meet in Greensboro with 385 team points to come in second place for the second consecutive national meet. Denison University won its first team national championship since 2001 and second overall with a team total of 464.5 points.

Emory collected three national championships, four national runner-ups, 17 All-America honors and 10 All-America Honorable Mention across the four-day meet. The team also set a national DIII record in the 200 Medley Relay.

At the conclusion of the meet, Emory procured two prominent awards with sophomore Ariana Khan being named the Women's Diver of the Year and Tomasz Rossa earning Women's Diving Coach of the Year. Khan is the first diver in program history, for either the women or men, to earn the prestigious award.

On the final day of competition, the Eagles battled with Kenyon College for second place with the Eagles overtaking the Owls in the final event of the night in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

The Eagles got on the board early with four top-12 showings in the first two events of the evening session. Sophomore Jada Chatoor took sixth in the mile at 16:58.04 and junior Sloane Donovan was 12th at 17:12.73.

Next up, the dynamic duo of senior Caroline Maki and graduate student Taylor Leone earned more All-America acclaim in the 100 Freestyle. Maki finished as the national runner-up at 49.71 while Leone touched in sixth at 50.45.

The next two events saw the Eagles score points in the consolation finals with junior Megan Jungers (12th, 2:01.39) and freshman Isabel Huang (13th, 2:02.35) in the 200 Backstroke and junior Fiona Arwood (14th, 2:18.83) and sophomore Ali Kaiser (16th, 2:19.86) in the 200 Breaststroke.

Emory trailed Kenyon by four points heading into the final event but a fourth place effort from Maki, Leone, senior Sammie Kass and junior Moshelle Borjigin propelled the Eagles into second. The group posted a time of 3:23.06.

The second place finish is the 21st-straight meet the Eagles have finished among the top four teams at the meet and is the fourth national runner-up finish in team history.
