(May 23) Jamie Chan helped Emory University become the first school ever to win three consecutive NCAA Division III women's tennis national championships. The junior was a perfect 6-0 in singles and doubles play at the NCAA team championship last week, 8-0 if you add the NCAA regionals played two weeks earlier. Chan is one of two Emory players to play on all three championship teams and the only one to compete in both singles and doubles at all three NCAA team championship tournaments. In three singles matches against the No. 2, 3, and 10 ranked teams in the nation, Chan did not drop a set and only lost 10 games combined. She finished the season with a 19-4 record in singles and 26-9 in doubles. Heading into next season, Chan will be third on the school's all-time list for career win percentage in singles and 10th in career singles wins.

(May 9) Jamie Chan clinched the winning point to help Emory University advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III national tournament. Chan won her match at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-7 (7), 6-1, to seal a 5-3 victory against Rhodes (Tenn.). Chan teamed up with Carina Alberelli for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. Chan, who is ranked 16th in the regional singles rankings, improved her season singles record to 16-4. She is 7-0 in singles since the start of April with four of those wins against national top-20 Division III teams. With a career singles record of 58-11, Chan is fifth in school history in career win percentage and 14th in career wins.

(April 18) Emory University freshman Indu Anand won all eight singles and doubles matches last weekend as the Eagles captured their 18th consecutive University Athletic Association championship. In three UAA matches and one additional match against Tufts University (Mass.), ranked No. 14 in the nation, Anand did not drop a set in singles and improved to 16-2 in singles matches this season. In doubles, Anand and partner Lindsay Tiemeyer won all four matches.

(March 28) Richelle Marasigan of Emory University won four of five singles matches, all against national top-20 teams. She was a singles winners against opponents from teams ranked No. 6, 7, 10, and 19 in the nation. Against Redlands (Calif.), the No. 10 ranked team, Marasigan stepped up one spot in the lineup to No. 3 singles where she beat her opponent, 6-3, 7-5. She improved her season singles record to 16-4 overall, 6-1 against national top-20 teams. The sophomore is ranked No. 3 among regional singles players by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

(March 14) Emory University's Indu Anand won both of her matches to help the No. 1 ranked Eagles to a 9-0 win against Washington (Md.), in its only match of the week. Anand, a freshman, won her match at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and No. 2 doubles, along with teammate Richelle Marasigan, 8-1. For the season, she has an 8-1 singles record and an 8-4 doubles record.

(March 7) Freshman Serena Burkard was 4-0 in two matches last weekend helping Emory University to two wins, including one over the No. 4 team in the nation. Friday, playing in the No. 2 singles position, Burkard beat an opponent who was ranked No. 10 in the nation at the end of last season, 6-3, 6-4. She and her doubles partner Alexandra Gross won their match, 8-4, helping the Eagles to an 8-1 victory in the match against the No. 4 team in the nation, Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.). Saturday, Burkard won her No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-2, and her doubles match, 8-0, to help Emory defeat Carnegie Mellon (Pa.). Burkard has already won All-America status this season as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional singles champion. She is 10-5 in singles action this season and 11-2 in doubles play. The Eagles stretched their team winning streak against Division III opponents to 72 matches.

(Feb. 28) Carina Alberelli of Emory University stepped into the No. 1 singles position for the No. 1 ranked team in the nation. She won two singles matches last week, both against teams ranked in the top five nationally in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Alberelli was a 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 singles winner against her opponent from Auburn-Montgomery, the No. 1 team in the nation and defending national champion in NAIA. She won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in singles against Brenau (Ga.), ranked No. 5 nationally in NAIA. Alberelli also won her doubles matches against Auburn-Montgomery and Brenau. The senior improved her career won-loss records to 61-13 in singles and 63-14 in doubles. Last season, she reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA singles championship and the finals of the NCAA doubles championship.

(Feb. 21) Junior co-captain Jamie Chan won her singles and doubles matches to help Emory University win its season opener against Clayton College & State University, who finished last season ranked 12th nationally in NCAA Division II. Playing in the No. 3 singles position, Chan defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-4. Chan and her partner, Carina Albertelli, won their doubles match, 8-3, playing in the No. 2 position. Chan has already earned All-America status this season finishing sixth in doubles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national championship. With a 6-1 singles record thus far this season, Chan's career record is 48-8, and she is just one singles win from joining the top 20 all-time at Emory for career singles wins. Emory University is the two-time defending national champion and is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in NCAA Division III.

(Oct. 18) Emory freshman Serena Burkard finished in fourth place in the singles draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national championships. Burkard won her opening singles match 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, against Alicia Menezes of Amherst (Mass.), the NCAA national team runner-up last season. The Emory freshman was defeated in her semi-final match, 6-2, 7-5, by Liz Bondi of DePauw (Ind.). Burkard was defeated in the third-place match, 6-4, 7-5, by Lauren Hom of Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.), who was ranked 30th in the final national singles rankings last season. Burkard is only the second freshman to qualify for the ITA national championships. Former Emory player and eight-time national champion Mary Ellen Gordon was the first to receive the distinction.

(Oct. 11) Samantha Shapiro of Emory University was a double winner at the Washington & Lee (Va.) Fall Festival. Shapiro was undefeated in six matches as she won the fifth singles flight and the third doubles flight, the latter with teammate Cristina Arellano. In Shapiro's semifinal and final singles matches, she defeated opponents from the host school, ranked fourth in the nation. She did not drop a set in her three singles matches. In doubles, Shapiro and Arellano were 8-0 winners in the quarterfinals and semifinals and 8-3 winners in the championship match.

(Oct. 4) Freshman Serena Burkard won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional championship singles title. Burkard won the match 6-4, 6-1 over teammate Richelle Marasigan. Burkard defeated No. 3 seed to advance to the semi-finals where she defeated the No. 8. Burkard and partner Alexandra Gross reached the semi-finals in the doubles draw before losing to Emory teammates. Burkard's win earns her a spot in the ITA national tournament Oct. 14-17 in Fort Myers, Fla. This is the third consecutive year Emory has won the singles title.
