#4 Emory Takes First Loss to D-II #6 Columbus State

The fourth-ranked Emory University women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the spring on Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 6-3 decision to a tough Columbus State University team, the sixth-ranked squad in Division II.

With the loss, Emory dropped to 2-1 on the season, while the Cougars remained perfect with a 6-0 record in 2013.

Bright spots in the match included a singles win from Beatrice Rosen in the third match, as the freshman defeated Olivera Jokic 6-1, 6-2, and a three-set win for freshman Stephanie Loutsenko in the fourth singles contest over Laura Chapman (6-2, 3-6, 6-1).  Emory claimed its third point of the match with a win by default at sixth singles.

Emory will be back in action on Saturday, March 2nd at 10:00 AM, hosting the University of the South at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
