Harding Captures ITA Singles Title; Adds Doubles Crown with Su

The Emory University Women's Tennis team capped off the ITA Fall South Regional Championships presented by Oracle on Sunday afternoon with junior Bridget Harding winning the singles title and later, teaming up with senior Katarina Su to capture the doubles crown.

Harding defeated senior Michelle Satterfield in the singles championship in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 to become the latest Eagle to win the ITA Fall South Regional Championship. With the win, Harding advances to the ITA Small College National Tournament which will be held from Thursday, October 13th through Sunday, October 16th in Surprise, Arizona. This marks the 15th consecutive year an Emory player has been crowned the singles champion at the ITA Fall South Regional Championships.

Harding advanced to the finals after taking down Su in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. In the other semifinal match, Satterfield battled sophomore Daniela Lopez, coming away with a 7-5, 6-4 victory.

In the doubles final, Harding and Su faced off against Satterfield and Lopez in a highly contested match that needed a third-set tiebreak to decide a winner. Harding and Su took the first set by a 7-6 (4) score before Lopez and Satterfield evened it a one set apiece, winning the second set 6-2. In the tiebreak, Harding and Su erased an early deficit to defeat their fellow Eagles by a 13-11 margin. This marks the second straight year Harding and Su have earned the ITA Fall South Regional Doubles championship and the duo will now compete at the ITA Small College National Tournament in October.
