The top-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team was narrowly edged out by a Division I opponent for the second consecutive match as the Eagles were upended, 4-3, by Charleston Southern University on Sunday afternoon in Charleston, S.C.

The match came down to the wire as it was decided by the final singles match. With the score knotted at 3-3, CSU's Kimberley Koerner and sophomore Daniela Lopez battled across three sets with Koerner earning the 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-2 victory at third singles to clinch the win for the Buccaneers.

"We got some more great work accomplished today in another competitive match" Head Coach Amy Bryant stated at the conclusion of the match. "We are all working on some important aspects of our game and getting better under pressure."

Charleston Southern opened the match, claiming two out of three doubles matches to earn the point. Lopez and senior Michelle Satterfield defeated Mi'Kola Cooper and Valeria Koussenkova, 6-3, on court two for Emory's lone doubles victory.

In singles play, the Eagles tallied wins at first, fourth and fifth singles for the team's three points. Junior Bridget Harding recorded her team-leading 20th win of the year at first singles, defeating Nicolin Luecke in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. At fourth singles, senior Katarina Su downed Koussenkova, 6-3, 6-4, with classmate Melissa Goodman picking up the other Emory victory at fifth singles, knocking off Yana Morar in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
