Emory Women's Tennis to Face Bowdoin in NCAA Quarterfinals

The Emory University Women's Tennis team will be looking for its second consecutive and eighth overall national championship as the final rounds of the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships begin on Monday, May 22nd at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The No.-3 ranked Eagles enter the Quarterfinals 15-6 overall and 13-1 against Division III opponents and are set to face No.-8 ranked Bowdoin College in the Round of Eight at 11:30 AM EST on Monday. The winner will advance to face either No.-1 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps or No.-11 ranked Washington University in the semifinals at 2:00 PM on Tuesday.

On the other side of the draw, No.-4 ranked Williams College plays No.-9 ranked University of Chicago and No.-14 ranked Johns Hopkins University squares off against No.-2 ranked Middlebury College. Both matches are scheduled for 8:30 AM EST on Monday with the winners advancing to the other semifinal match on Tuesday.

The two semifinals winners will advance to the National Championship match which is set for 10:00 AM on Wednesday.

This marks Emory's 10th-straight appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals and the 27th overall appearance in program history.  The Eagles are 16-10 all-time in Quarterfinal matches, including wins in each of their last eight appearances and 14 of their last 15.

Bowdoin advanced to the Round of Eight following wins over Colby-Sawyer (5-0) and Wesleyan University (5-4). Emory is a perfect 5-0 all-time against the Polar Bears dating back to the first series meeting in 2012. The two programs have met just once in the NCAA Tournament with Emory recording a 5-2 victory in the 2012 NCAA Quarterfinals.
