Women's Tennis Downs UT-Dallas to Snap Skid

The Emory University women's tennis team was back to its winning ways Friday evening as the Eagles defeated UT-Dallas, 8-1, on the indoor courts of the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

No. 2 ranked Emory snapped its three-match skid with the win, moving to 4-4 overall, while the 26th-ranked Comets fell to 4-2.

The Eagles swept all three matches in doubles to open the evening, with senior Emma Cartledge and junior Stephanie Shulman leading the way on court three as they coasted to the 8-1 win. Senior Jessica Fatemi and freshman Eliza McPherron added a win on court two with their 8-3 victory and on court three, Christina Watson and Ana Cristina Perez rounded out the sweep with their 8-5 decision.

In singles, the Eagles were winners of five of the six matches with all five wins coming in straight sets. Shulman and junior Alexa Goetz picked up identical 6-0, 6-1 wins on the five and six lines while Cartledge (6-4, 6-2), Watson (6-2, 6-2) and Perez (6-4, 6-0) secured wins at the two, three and four positions.

The Eagles return to the courts Sunday afternoon with another home match, this time against Division II Columbus State beginning at 1:00 PM.
