Women's Tennis Falls at #9 Amherst, 6-3

The No. 4 ranked Emory University women's tennis team dropped a Friday afternoon match to No. 9 Amherst College, 6-3, in the first of three straight matches this weekend.

The Eagles fell behind after doubles as the Mammoths claimed points with wins on two of the three courts. Emory was victorious at first doubles however with senior Christina Watson and sophomore Ana Cristina Perez sending the Eagles into singles down 2-1 with their 8-5 win.

Emory was able to capture wins at the third and fourth positions with Watson cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court three and junior Stephanie Shulman added a 6-4, 6-4 win at the fourth spot.

The Eagles trailed 4-3 with two matches still on court when Amherst was able to clinch the match win with a three-set triumph over senior Emma Cartledge at second singles, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Emory looks to rebound Saturday afternoon against No. 5 Wesleyan University in a rematch of the 2021 NCAA national championship match. First serve is set for 1:00 PM at Wesleyan.
