Eliza McPherron & Bridget Harding Collect ITA Regional Awards

Freshman Eliza McPherron and Assistant Coach Bridget Harding from the Emory University women's tennis program were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association late last week as the organization announced its Division III regional award winners.

McPherron became the latest Eagle to take home the Atlantic South Rookie of the Year award. In her first year with the program, McPherron racked up a team-best 21 singles victories in 33 matches while adding a 15-11 mark in doubles playing alongside three different partners. In the fall, McPherron posted a 14-2 record on her way to capturing the ITA Division III Singles National Championship. She added a seven wins in the spring, playing primarily at the No. 1 and 2 positions, leading the Eagles to a national quarterfinals appearance. She is the 10th player in team history to garner regional Rookie of the Year acclaim and the first since teammate Alexa Goetz won the honor in 2020.

In her first year as the full-time assistant, Harding was tabbed as the region's Assistant Coach of the Year as she becomes the fourth coach to claim the honor. After joining the coaching staff full time, Harding aided the Eagles in making their 14th straight appearance in the quarterfinals as well as a runner-up performance at the UAA Championships in April.
