Women’s Tennis Dominates N.C. Wesleyan, 9-0, to Open Weekend

The Emory University women's tennis team pulled out a 9-0 win against the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops on Friday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Eagles improve to 5-3 on the spring and hand the Battling Bishops their seventh loss of the season.

In doubles, junior Ana Cristina Perez and freshman Emily Kantrovitz earned the first point on court one with their 8-3 decision. Freshman Izzy Antanavicius and senior Alexa Goetz followed with an 8-1 victory on court two while sophomore Eliza McPherron and freshman Iris Berman earned their point with an 8-0 win on three.

The Eagles earned straight set wins in all six singles matches of the day. Senior Stephanie Shulman started on court one with a 6-1, 6-1 victory followed by a 6-0, 6-1 decision on two from Perez.

Junior Ilayda Baykan earned the sixth point for Emory on court three with a 6-0, 6-1 decision. Goetz followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win on four.

Freshman Alyssa Margolin posted another win on five with a 6-0, 6-0 decision. Freshman Alessia Martinez rounded out the win on six with her 6-2, 6-0 victory.

The Eagles are back home again on Saturday, March 25 at 2 pm to face DePauw and celebrate Emory's Champions Weekend and senior day.
