Women's Tennis Win Streak Halted at #6 Middlebury

The No. 9 ranked Emory University women's tennis team saw its seven-match winning streak snapped Sunday afternoon, falling to No. 6 ranked Middlebury College in Vermont.

The Eagles see their spring record fall to 8-4 with the defeat while the Panthers improve to 8-1.

Middlebury picked up wins at the top two doubles spots prior to sophomore Eliza McPherron and freshman Iris Berman earning an 8-6 result on court three to avoid the doubles sweep.

In singles, the Panthers secured straight set wins on courts one, three and six to clinch the match win and would another win at the fourth line. Freshman Emily Kantrovitz recorded a win at the second spot 6-2, 7-6.

McPherron rounded out the match, dueling into a third set after scores of 6-3 and 4-6 in the opening sets but fell in the super set 10-5.

Emory is back at home next Friday, hosting local and NAIA foe Georgia Gwinnett at 3:00 PM on the WoodPEC courts.
