The Emory University women's tennis team fell in the UAA championship match to the University of Chicago Saturday morning by a 5-1 count.
The top-ranked UChicago completed back-to-back conference titles by taking points at the top two doubles matches and on courts one, two and five in singles. The Maroons stay unbeaten on the year and improve to 19-0 following the win while the No. 7 ranked Eagles finish the regular season at 11-6.
Chicago earned 8-2 and 8-7 (4) on courts one and two in doubles before the Eagles' duo of sophomore Eliza McPherron and freshman Iris Berman rallied for their 8-7 (5) win on court three.
The Maroons closed out the match by taking straight set wins over senior Stephanie Shulman (6-3, 6-1) at the top position and over McPherron (6-1, 6-4) at the fifth position. The clinching point came on court two as Shianna Guo defeated freshman Emily Kantrovitz by a 6-2, 6-4 score.
Emory will now await word on the NCAA tournament draw when the postseason tournament field is announced in early May.
