Women’s Tennis Takes Final Match of Regional; Advances to Orlando

The Emory University women's tennis team defeated the Sewanee Tigers on Sunday morning to win the regional final and advance to the NCAA Championships next week. 

The Eagles pick up their 13th win of the season and will travel to Orlando on May 14th to compete in the national quarterfinals. It will be the program's 15th consecutive trip to the Elite 8.

The Eagles once again dominated in duos taking two out of three to take an early lead in the match. Freshman Emily Kantrovitz and junior Ana Cristina Perez registered an 8-4 victory on court one. Freshman Izzy Antanavicius and senior Alexa Goetz fought in a battle on court two and took the match by an 8-7 decision to give the Eagles their second point of the day. 

In singles, senior Stephanie Shulman led the way on court one with a 6-4, 7-6 victory followed by a 6-3, 6-0 win from Kantrovitz in the two spot. Junior Ilayda Baykan rounded out the match on four with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 decision to clinch the match for Emory.
