Women’s Tennis Blanks Piedmont, 6-0, on Saturday Morning

The Emory University women's tennis program defeated the Piedmont Lions on Saturday morning with a 6-0 victory after playing to clinch. 

The No. 3 ranked Eagles earn their second win of the weekend and improve to 11-3 during the spring having won eight matches in a row. Sophomore Emily Kantrovitz and senior Ana Cristina Perez highlighted the day winning their doubles match and both winning their singles match.

Emory opened the day going 3-0 in doubles after three quick matches. Kantrovitz and Perez earned their win on court one with an 8-2 decision. Junior Eliza McPherron and sophomore Iris Berman took the No. 2 spot in doubles winning their match posting an 8-0 victory followed by another 8-0 victory on court three from sophomore Izzy Antanavicius and freshman Yanire Marte.

In singles, Kantrovitz started things in the No. 1 spot with a 6-1, 6-0 straight set decision followed by another straight set victory on court two from Perez (6-0, 6-0). McPherron also finished her match on court six with a 6-0,6-0 win earning Emory's sixth point of the match.

Senior Ilayda Baykan was winning her match on court three with scores of 6-0 and 4-1 before her match was cut short. Antanavicius and Berman were also winning their matches on courts four and five before the clinching point was decided.

The Eagles will return to Atlanta to face the No. 12 ranked Trinity Tigers on Sunday, April 7 with the match slated to begin at 10:00 AM.
