Senior Ana Cristina Perez and sophomore Emily Kantrovitz represented the Emory University women's tennis team Saturday afternoon as the NCAA Singles Championships got underway at the Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Perez shined in the opening rounds, picking up a pair of straight set victories to advance to Sunday's quarterfinals. In the first round, Perez knocked off 8th-seeded Lindsay Eisenman from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 6-3, 6-2 before eliminating Washington & Lee's Lauren Long by a 6-2, 6-3 score in the second round.

For Kantrovitz, she sees her sophomore campaign come to an end in the Round of 32 as she fell in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) to unseeded Audrey Yoon of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. For the year, she posted a 22-6 overall record in singles.

Next up for Perez will be the top seed in the tournament, Rena Lin from the University of Chicago. Quarterfinal action will begin at 11:00 AM ET on Sunday.
