Emory University's John Curtin was named the Women's Head Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year for the South/Southeast Region, while Madeleine Outman was selected as the Women's Assistant Coach of the Year, as chosen by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

This is the second time that Curtin has been named the region's Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year, along with the 2009 campaign.  This is the second time in as many campaigns with Emory that Outman, who coaches Emory's sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers, has claimed the honor for the outdoor season.

The Emory women won the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship for the seventh time in school history, and the third time in as many years.  The Eagles currently have four individual women in position to qualify for five events at the NCAA Division III Championships, in addition to three relays.  This season, Emory athletes have broken school records in the women's 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 1,500-meter run, 5,000-meter run, triple jump, 4x100-meter relay, 4x400-meter relay and 4x800-meter relay.

The Eagles are currently awaiting the official selection of the field to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which is scheduled to be posted to NCAA.com by 9:00 AM on Sunday, May 20^th.
