Emory Women's Track & Field Participate at Buccaneer Invitational

The Emory University Women's Track and Field team wrapped up action at the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University on Saturday afternoon. There was no team scoring at the meet.

Senior Michelle Kagei and sophomore Jordan Small paced the Eagles at the meet as both performers registered new season-best times in their respective events. Kagei finished second in the 5000m Run with an indoor PR of 18:18.36 while Small tied for 11th in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m.

In the Distance Medley Relay, the team of freshmen Ileana Zeissner, Nicole Steiner, Jordan Burgess and sophomore Clare Ubersax recorded a season-best team mark in a time of 13:04.78, finishing sixth overall. Ubersax added an eighth place showing to lead Emory in the mile run, stopping the clock at 5:19.60 and Burgess was 11th in the 800m Run at 2:25.41.

Sophomore Dani Bland turned in the 10th best preliminary time in the 200m Dash at 25.71 and added a 17th place finish in the 60m Dash with a time of 8.03.

Other noteworthy finishes for the Eagles at the meet were junior Dyess Verfurth in the 3000m (16th, 11:21.57), junior Erica Goldman in the 400m Dash (20th, 1:00.40) and sophomore Katie Chang in the long jump (31st, 4.62m).

Emory continues the indoor season next weekend with a pair of meets in the Samford Invitational and the Tiger Indoor Invitational hosted by Sewanee University.
