Isabel Saridakis Sets School Record in the Pole Vault at Tiger Indoor Invitational

Freshman Isabel Saridakis broke the school record in the pole vault as the Emory Women's Track and Field team finished second at the Tiger Indoor Invitational with 63 points.

Saridakis turned in Emory's lone first place showing at the meet, with a dominant first place effort in the event. Saridakis posted a mark of 3.41m while the next best finisher was at a height of 3.05m. Her 3.41m set the school record in the event, narrowly eclipsing Tracy Whittaker's previous top mark of 3.40m set in 2008.

Sophomore Jordan Small placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.50m while classmate Gracie Potokar added a third place finish in the shot put with an Emory season-best mark of 10.88m.

In the track events, sophomore Hayley Moyer was third in the 400m Dash at 1:01.95 while freshman Amy Hunter was fourth in the 55m Dash with a time of 7.75m. Hunter also scored for the Eagles in the triple jump, placing fourth at 10.62m.

Emory also sent performers to compete against mostly Division I competition at the Samford Open on Friday and Saturday. There was no team scoring at the meet.

Sophomore Dilys Osei recorded a team season-best time in the 60m Hurdles at 9.49. Sophomore Dani Bland led all Emory performers in both the 60m Dash (8.03) and 200m Dash (25.58).

Junior Megan Waples placed fifth in the 5000m Run in a time of 18:19.61 while classmate Gabrielle Stravach was seventh in the mile at 5:07.01. Fellow junior Tru Powell was 14th in the 3000m Run while sophomore Ariana Newhouse finished 16th in the 400m Dash with a time of 58.57. Sophomore Radhika Shah rounded out the Eagles performers in individual events, posting a 19th-place showing in the 800m Run at 2:21.15.

Emory returns to Sewanee next Friday with the Sewanee Indoor Invitational. The meet will be the final tune up before the Eagles head to Brandeis University for the 2017 UAA Indoor Championships on February 25th and 26th.
