Senior Dani Bland and junior Isabel Saridakis of the Emory University Women's Track and Field team were named the University Athletic Association's Athletes of the Week late Monday evening.
Bland began the outdoor season with great showings on the track this past weekend at the Emory Invitational, taking first in both the 100m and 200m Dashes, assisting with a third place relay finish in the 4x100m and was 16th in the Javelin (26.24m) as the Eagles won the invite. Bland's 100m time of 11.95 ranks as the top DIII time so far while she ranks second in the country in the 200m and third in the 4x100m Relay with senior Dilys Osei and sophomores Rebekah Bondi and Michelle Rosenblum at 47.83. All three times currently lead the UAA.
Saridakis set a new school record in the pole vault on Saturday, besting her previous record of 3.68m with an event-winning height of 3.75m. Her new PR has positioned her with the top mark in the conference as well as in Division III as of Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles will return to competition this weekend with the Emory Classic on March 29th and 30th.
