Dani Bland Advances to 100m Dash Finals on Day Two of NCAA Outdoor Championships

Senior Dani Bland advanced to the finals of the 100m Dash as she highlighted four Eagles in action on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Bland clocked in with the fastest time in heat one at 11.86 to earn an automatic berth to Saturday’s finals and finished with the third fastest time during the afternoon’s three heats. Saturday will mark Bland’s third straight trip to the 100m finals in her career having previously finished sixth as a sophomore and was the national runner-up last spring.

Sophomore Rebekah Bondi nearly missed out on joining Bland in the 100m finals tomorrow as she placed 11th overall during the preliminaries with a time of 12.03, missing the cut for the nine-person final by .06 seconds.

On the men’s side, sophomore Liam Fost narrowly missed advancing to Saturday’s finals in the 400m Dash as he finished 10th with a time of 48.28. He missed the cut by just .05 seconds. And in the high jump, freshman Brett Henshey tied for 18th with a mark of 1.93m.

The NCAA Outdoor Championships conclude Saturday with a full slate of competition with the Eagles competing in five track event finals on day beginning with Bland, Bondi, senior Dilys Osei and freshman Hannah Lansberry in the 4x100m relay finals at 12:15pm followed by Bland in the 100m (1:30pm), Osei in the 400m Hurdles (2:15pm), Bland in the 200m (2:40pm) and the 4x400m relay of Bland, Osei, Lansberry and senior Ariana Newhouse to close things out at 3:50pm.
