After seeing the remainder of the season cut short prior to the NCAA Indoor Championships in March 2020, the Emory University women's track and field team made its return to the competition field one year later, taking part in a full outdoor season.
Rebekah Bondi and Isabel Saridakis shined once more for the Eagles during the outdoor season, capturing All-America acclaim. Bondi earned the first two individual All-America awards of her career as she finished in the 100m dash and sixth in the long jump while Saridakis secured her career outdoor All-America honor in the pole vault, finishing third overall.
Bondi and Saridakis were joined at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina in May by Annika Urban, Jessica Barbarosh, Michelle Rosenblum and Hannah Lansberry. Urban competed individually in the 5000m run, placing 11th overall and in the 4x100m relay, the group of Bondi, Barbarosh, Rosenblum and Lansberry finished in 10th place.
To go along with the NCAA qualifiers, the Eagles saw 13 different student-athletes garner USTFCCCA South/Southeast All-Region acclaim with Bondi leading the way with four All-Region certificates: long jump, 100m dash, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. Lauren Cunild (800m run, 1500m run), Claire Evans (400m Hurdles, 4x400m relay), Lansberry (4x100m relay, 4x400m relay), Rosenblum (4x100m relay, 4x400m relay) and Urban (1500m run, 5000m run) were other multiple All-Region selections.
Rounding out the All-Region performers for the Eagles were Barbarbosh in the 4x100m relay, Alex Devaux in the hammer, Hope Jackson in the discus, Shannon Marsh in the 10000m run, Taylor Robinson in the javelin, Saridakis in the pole vault and Laura Sheckter in the shot put.
Although the Outdoor University Athletic Association Championships were cancelled for the 2021 season, the Eagles still saw six athletes combine for 10 UAA Athlete of the Week awards throughout the year. Bondi collected four weekly honors with Urban tallying a pair of awards. Evans and Sheckter swept the awards on March 22 while Cunild and Saridakis were solo recipients on April 5th and 19th, respectively.
In addition, the women's team set two school records this season with Urban breaking the 5000m run mark and Sheckter eclipsing her pervious school record in the shot put.
All in all, the Eagles returned to compete in a total of 11 meets during the 2021 outdoor season, finishing as high as first at both the BSC Hilltop Classic and Berry Field Day Invitational and tied for 17th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
