Sarah Fineman Earns All-UAA Honors on Final Day of UAA Indoor Championships

The Emory University women's indoor track & field team closed the second day of action at the UAA Indoor Championships in Cleveland, OH finishing the meet in fourth place and garnered one additional All-UAA Performer.

The Eagles finished the meet in fourth place scoring 45.5 total points and had two athletes turn in All-UAA performances over the two-day event. WashU narrowly pulled out the victory scoring 217.5 points while Chicago finished just behind with 208 points.

Freshman Sarah Fineman earned All-UAA acclaim with her performance in the shot-put event. Fineman recorded a distance of 12.11m to finish in second place at the meet and in doing so recorded the tenth farthest distance in program history.

Along with Fineman, the Eagles had eleven other athletes perform at a scoring level in their events on Sunday. Sophomore Ella Lavelle crossed the finish line in 7.95 seconds for an eighth-place finish and added a point to Emory's total. The Eagles had two scorers in the 200m dash, senior Jessica Barbarosh and freshman Kaya Binetti, as they finished back-to-back to earn two and one points respectively. After a stellar Saturday, sophomore Libby Ranocha finished just outside of All-UAA status with a time of 2:20.18 in the 800m run which saw her finish in fourth place. Along with Ranocha, junior Lauren Anshen (2:21.96 - 7th-place) and freshman Jenna Daly (2:28.68 - 8th-place) also finished in scoring positions for the Eagles in the 800m run.

The Eagles had two athletes score in the 60m hurdle event, freshman Amaya Martin and junior Claire Evans, who crossed the finish line in near identical times of 9.23 and 9.24 in registering back-to-back finishes for the Eagles. The 4x400 relay team of freshman Dashiel Tao Harris, freshman Paige Murdock, freshman Mina Leopold, and Evans finished just outside of All-UAA position concluding the race in fourth with a time of 4:02.05. Senior Lauren Cunild registered a time of 5:13.66 in the 1-mile run to end up in eighth place and score a point for the Eagles.

On the field for the Eagles, freshman Alexandra Feurer was the only scorer on Sunday outside of Fineman as she finished tied for eighth in the pole vault event to tally another half a point for Emory.

The Emory women's track & field team now turns to the Tufts National Qualifier on March 5th in Boston, MA which serves as the last opportunity for the Eagles to post marks that would qualify them for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
