Women's Track & Field Finish Third at UAA Championships

The Emory University women's track & field team concluded the second and final day of action at the UAA Outdoor Championships in St. Louis, MO in third place having added four more All-UAA performers.

The Eagles finished in third place with 118.5 points which marks their fourth consecutive third place finish at the UAA Outdoor Championships. No. 2 ranked WashU took home the crown with a dominant 286 points while Chicago finished with 192 points for a silver medal.

Junior Hope Jackson earned a first place finish and her first ever All-UAA honor in the discus throw on Sunday. Jackson's distance of 42.06m is the second farthest in program history and sees her sitting at 22nd in the nation. On the track, junior Annika Urban continued her stellar season with a time of 17:03.93, the third fastest in program history, in the 5,000m run which earned her a third place finish and All-UAA recognition. Junior Claire Evans earned her first ever All-UAA selection with a third place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a time of 1:05.01. Rounding out the All-UAA performers for the Eagles was the 4x400 relay team of freshman Dashiel Tao Harris, sophomore Libby Ranocha, freshman Kaya Binetti and Lansberry who registered a time of 3:58.42 to finish in second place.

On the track, the Eagles had four runners place in scoring position in the 100m dash: Binetti (4th), sophomore Ella Lavelle (6th), senior Jessica Barbarosh (7th) and freshman Mina Leopold (8th). Binetti (25.60) and Barbarosh also scored in the 200m dash by finishing in seventh and eighth place, respectively. The Eagles managed three scoring performances in the 400m dash as well from Harris (57.79), Ranocha (58.62) and senior Hannah Lansberry (59.87).

The Eagles fared well in the more distance-oriented track events as well with senior Bella Racette posting an impressive 17:44.08 in the 5,000m run to score two additional points for the team. Senior Lauren Cunild recorded an eighth place finish in the 800m run with a time of 2:23.31 while sophomore Lily Taylor managed a seventh place finish in the 1,500m run crossing the finish line in 4:43.06.

The 4x100 relay team of Lavelle, Leopold, Harris and Binetti had a solid showing scoring the Eagles an additional three points with a time of 1:01.27. Evans (15.49) and freshman McKaley Yost (15.76) registered scoring efforts in the 100m hurdle finishing in sixth and eighth place, respectively.

On the field for the Eagles, freshman Sarah Fineman picked up where she left off from her incredible Saturday performance with a fourth place finish in the discus throw, registering a distance of 36.41m. Freshman Audrey Johnson (10.72m) scored two points for Emory with her seventh place finish in the triple jump. Rounding out scoring for the Eagles was Yost whose height of 1.43m in the long jump saw her finish tied for eighth.

The Eagles are back in action next week for the Torrin Lawrence Memorial in Athens, GA as they prepare and attempt to qualify for the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships at the end of May.
