Audrey Johnson & Annika Urban Claim Titles on Final Day of UAA Championships

The Emory University women's indoor track & field team closed out the UAA Indoor Championships in Waltham, Massachusetts in third place having racked up two more UAA titles and six more All-UAA honorees on Sunday.

The No. 17 ranked Eagles turned in a third place result, their best finish since the 2020 season, having accumulated 90.16 points over 16 events. The No. 2 ranked WashU Bears pulled out the UAA title with 194 points narrowly edging out the No. 3 ranked Chicago Maroons who posted a score of 190. The Eagles finished the meet having tallied four UAA titles and eight All-UAA performances.

After setting the UAA Indoor Championship record in the 5,000m run yesterday, senior Annika Urban was back at it today recording another UAA Indoor Championship record this time in the one mile run which she completed in a time of 4:53.43. With the win in the one mile, Urban garnered her second of three All-UAA honors on the weekend. Urban was also a part of the 4x400 relay team, along with sophomore Audrey Johnson, sophomore Dashiel Tao Harris and junior Libby Ranocha, each of whom secured two All-UAA honors on the day, as they finished in third with a time of 3:57.55 who earned All-UAA honors by virtue of their third place finish.

Johnson earned the Eagles' second UAA title of the day and fourth of the meet as she won the 60m dash with a time of 7.70 seconds. Johnson's time is the fifth fastest in program history and stands as the 20th fastest time in Division III this season. Johnson also competed in the 200m dash final where she finished in eighth having crossed the finish line in 26.16 seconds.

Ranocha earned her second All-UAA honor with a second place finish in the 800m final as she logged a time of 2:15.14 which is the ninth fastest time in program history. Harris registered her second All-UAA honor in the 400m dash final with a time of 58.07 seconds which was good for third place.

The Eagles final All-UAA performance of the day came from sophomore Sarah Fineman who turned in a third place result in the shot put after notching a distance of 12.60m which is the fifth best mark in program history.

Elsewhere on the track, junior Clementine Bodus came in fourth in the 60m hurdle finals as her time of 8.94 seconds is tied for the fifth best time in program history. Sophomore Jenna Daly turned in two eighth place performances finishing with a time of 2:20.40 in the 800m final and 5:07.04 in the one mile run. Sophomore Paige Murdock closed the 400m dash final in eighth place as she recorded a time of 1:01.63.

Competing alongside Fineman in the shot put, senior Hope Jackson registered a distance of 12.22m good for a fifth place finish and four points for the Eagles. Sophomore Caroline Hansen, taking part in the triple jump, leaped for a distance of 10.91m which was good for seventh in the conference. The final scorer for the Eagles on the day was sophomore Paige Thielke who came in eighth in the high jump after recording a height of 1.48m.

The Eagles will compete in one final regular season meet next weekend at the Tufts Final Qualifier in Boston with one final opportunity to turn in Nationals qualifying performances.
