The Emory University track and field program saw three student-athletes compete at the annual Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday afternoon, a primarily Division I competition.
Graduate students Ethan Thompson and Brigid Hanley, as well as freshman Elizabeth Csikai, made the trip to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the event with Thompson breaking the program record in the 5,000m running a time of 14:25.26. His time in the event gave him a 14th place finish, the highest placing of the day.
Hanley and Csikai also competed in the 5,000m finishing 144th and 150th respectively. Hanley finished with a time of 17:08.61 placing her third in program history while Csikai followed behind with a time of 17:14.51 to place fourth in program history.
The Eagles will be taking a short break for the winter before returning to the track on Sunday, January 14 to compete in the Emory CrossPlex Showdown in Birmingham, Alabama.
