The No. 1-ranked Emory University volleyball team opened play at
the Emory Classic Friday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Maryville
University. The victory boosted the Eagles' record to 2-0
while Maryville slipped to 0-4.
Emory was paced by sophomore Jessica McAlvany who totaled a
team-high 10 kills. Senior Alysse Meyer chipped in eight
terminations while freshman Alex Duhl chipped in five kills.
Emory's defense was solid for the second straight match, holding
Maryville to a -.080 attack percentage.
Sophomore Brannan O'Neill came up with a match high 12 digs while
classmate Natalie Schonefeld dished out 28 assists while
contributing five digs.
Emory closes out the first day of action with a 7:00 p.m. bout vs.
UW-Plattville.
