The Emory University volleyball team closed out play at the
University Athletic Association Round Robin II on Sunday with a
pair of victories. The Eagles opened with a 3-0 triumph
(25-14, 25-18, 25-17) over Brandeis before winding up the weekend
with a 3-0 verdict over Case Western (25-18, 25-21, 25-21).
Emory now stands 24-5 on the year, 6-1 in league
action. Serving as the host of this weekend's Round Robin was
New York University.
Senior Alysse Meyer recorded a team-high 10 kills against the
Judges of Brandeis while junior Amelia McCall chipped in eight
terminations. The Eagles notched 13 total team blocks and were led
in the category by freshman Alex Duhl's two block solos and three
block assists. Sophomore Brannan O'Neill totaled a squad-leading 14
digs, and senior Vista Murphy played a solid defensive match as
well with 10 digs. Sophomore Natalie Schonefeld finished with
29 assists and contributed six block assists.
Sophomore Alexandra Wright slammed away for 13 kills against Case
Western while Meyer and Duhl posted nine put-aways apiece.
Wright was a formidable presence at the net with one block solo and
five block assists. Schonefeld rang up 43 assists and O'Neill
finished with a team-leading 12 digs.
Emory returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 22) when it hosts Lee
University and USC-Aiken at the Woodruff PE Center.
