Sophomore middle Breanah Bourque continued her
strong early season play as she helped the Eagles to a 4-0 mark
over the weekend that included a championship performance at the
Emory Classic. The 5-foot-10 Bourque played in 10 of the
team’s 12 sets and averaged 3.40 kills per set while posting
a 38.8 attack percentage (34-8—67). In addition, she
averaged an impressive 1.9 blocks per set as her performance helped
No. 3-ranked Emory boost its record to 10-0 on the year. In
the opening match of the Emory Classic, Bourque led all players
with 13 terminations, hit 63.2 percent (13-1—19) and
contributed seven block assists in a 3-0 victory. Against
region foe Texas Lutheran on Saturday, she posted a team-high 12
kills en route to a 52.4 hitting percentage and registered five
block assists in a 3-0 win. Against nationally-ranked Tufts,
she notched seven kills, seven digs and seven (2-5) total blocks in
a 3-0 triumph.
Emory is 10-0 for the first time since the 2000
season.
