The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball team defeated the University
of Chicago Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the University
Athletic Association Championships. The Eagles upped their
overall record to 30-4 following a 3-0 triumph (25-8, 25-19, 25-16)
over the Maroons, and will look to defend its conference crown when
its play No. 1-ranked Washington University in the title match at
4:00 p.m. today.
Senior Amelia McCall continued fine all-around play with a
team-high 11 kills while totaling 14 digs, her 14th
double-double of the year. Junior Jessica McAlvany
chalked up 10 terminations and sophomore Alena Ransom chipped in
seven kills while registering five block solos. Junior
Natalie Schonefeld recorded 39 assists in the win.
The Eagles’ win total this year marks the fourth straight and
eighth time in the past nine campaigns that the program has reached
or surpassed 30 victories.
