Sophomore libero Molly Landers turned in some
outstanding defensive play in helping the Eagles to a 3-1 record at
the Emory National Invitational. The 5-foot-5 Landers averaged a
team-high 4.79 digs per set that played a key role in Emory’s
four opponents mustering just a .053 hitting percentage over the
weekend. In the opening match of the Invitational, she led
all players with 21 digs, tying her second-highest career mark, in
a 3-0 victory over Washington & Lee. She followed that
performance with a match-best 16 digs in a 3-0 triumph over No. 12
Juniata. In the final match of the weekend, she totaled 18
digs in a five-set battle vs. Lee University.
Through 35 matches, she tops the team with a 3.74 digs-per-set
average with her total of 438 digs ranking fourth on the
school’s seasonal ladder.
