The No. 2-ranked Emory volleyball team captured its fifth straight match Friday evening, posting a 3-0 victory at Berry College.  The Eagles boosted their overall record to 29-2 following a 25-17, 25-14, 25-23 verdict over the Vikings who slipped to 12-12.

Emory finished the contest hitting .256 (36-15—82) and held the host squad to just .079 (29-22—89).  The Eagles finished with a 34-28 edge in digs and held a slim 5-4 margin in total blocks.

Senior Amelia McCall and junior Breanah Bourque shared for team honors with nine kills apiece.  Bourque registered a .429 (9-3—14) attack percentage, the eighth straight match she had hit .400 or higher. McCall's nine terminations enabled her to crack the 1,400-career kills plateau and she now has 1,404 to her credit.    Senior setter Natalie Schonefeld dished out 30 assists and contributed six digs while sophomore Molly Landers topped the team with nine digs.

The Eagles return to action next Friday (Oct. 28) when they host the opening day of the Emory National Invitational.  On tap for the team that day are matches against Washington & Lee and No. 12 Juniata.
