Emory Volleyball Posts Two Wins On Opening Day Of UAA Round Robin II

The No. 6-ranked Emory volleyball team opened the University Athletic Association Round Robin II with a pair of wins on Saturday, starting with a 3-1 (25-10, 25-13, 13-21, 25-12) decision over the University of Rochester before posting a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-21) verdict over Case Western Reserve University.  The Eagles now stand 21-3 overall, 5-0 in the UAA.

In the match against Rochester, Emory chalked up an impressive .420 hitting percentage (50-8—100) compared to the Yellowjackets' effort of .146 (32-18—96).  Emory held a decisive 55-30 cushion in digs and dished out a season-high 12 service aces, it second match of the campaign with double figures in that category.  Senior Breanah Bourque led a trio of Eagles who banged out 10 or more kills, compiling 14 terminations and finishing with a .500 attack percentage (14-3—22).  Sophomore Kate Bowman totaled 11 successful put-aways and led all players with 15 digs.  Senior Alex Duhl hit a blazing .607 in the encounter, chalking up 10 kills with no hitting miscues in 15 opportunities.  Sophomores Cami Silverman and Olivia Volarich each dished out three service aces to aid in the win.

Bourque kept up her offensive totals in the Case match, coming through with a team-best dozen kills.  Silverman  picked up eight terminations while Bowman and sophomore Cat McGrath tallied six apiece with Bowman compiling a team-high 14 digs.  Freshman setter Sydney Miles doled out 33 assists in the win and moved into 19th place on the school's seasonal list with 750.

Emory closes out the Round Robin II on Sunday with a 10:00 am bout vs. Brandeis followed by a 2:00 pm match vs. No. 1-ranked Washington University.
