Emory Volleyball Splits Sunday Matches At UAA Round Robin II

The No. 6-ranked Emory volleyball team closed out play at the University Athletic Association Round Robin II on Sunday, splitting a pair of matches.  The Eagles opened with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-15) win over Brandeis University before seeing a determined rally fall short in a 2-3 outcome (26-28, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 12-15) to No. 1-ranked Washington University.  Emory now stands 22-4 overall and finished the UAA regular season with a 6-1 slate, good for a first-place tie with Wash U and Chicago.

In the weekend finale against WU, senior Breanah Bourque led the Emory offensive effort with 22 kills, her second-highest career total, while sophomores Cami Silverman and Kate Bowman added 12 and 11 terminations, respectively.  Freshman Taylor Erwin distinguished herself by contributing a season-best 33 digs, the third-highest individual match total in school annals, and was aided in that category by Bowman who tallied 21 defensive saves.  Freshman setter Sydney Miles dished out 46 assists.

In the match vs. Brandeis, the Eagles were paced in kills by Bourque's 12 and Silverman's 10.  Erwin and Kate Bowman recorded 16 and 15 digs, respectively, with Erwin recording three service aces.  Sydney Miles dished out 36 assists in the victory.

Emory returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 16) when it plays at Slippery Rock in a 7:00 pm match.
