Emory's Jessica Holler Named UAA Volleyball Player Of The Week

Emory University sophomore middle hitter Jessica Holler (Roswell, GA) has been named by the University Athletic Association as Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week following her performance over five matches that saw the Eagles post a 4-1 mark.  It is the second this season and fourth time in her career that she has been chosen for the honor.

After helping Emory to a 3-1 win over Birmingham Southern (Oct. 14), the 6-foot-1 Holler shined at the UAA Round Robin II, playing in all 15 sets and pacing the team  in kills (3.27 kps), attack percentage (.489) and blocks (1.67 bps).  After hitting .500 (7-0--14) in a 3-0 victory over NYU, Holler tied for match honors with 14 terminations, while hitting .429, in a five-set match vs. No. 7 Washington University. In addition, Holler also registered a match-high nine total blocks (2-7). On the final day of the Round Robin II, Holler pounded out a match-high 14 kills en route to posting a hitting percentage of .500 (14-3--22) in aiding a 3-0 outcome over Brandeis. In the finale, a 3-1 win over Chicago, Holler hit a blazing .538 on the strength of a team-leading 14 terminations with no errors in 26 swing attempts. Holler also led all players with a career-high tying 10 total blocks (0-10). 

So far this year, Holler has played 76 sets and ranks as the league's leader in hitting percentage (.415, 205-39—400) and blocks (1.33 bps).  In addition, she stands third on the team and fifth on the league ladder in kills (2.70 kps).
