Jessica Holler Named Sports Imports/AVCA D-III National Player of the Week

Emory volleyball senior Jessica Holler (Roswell, GA) added to her award collection on Tuesday when she was selected as the Sports Imports/AVCA D-III National Player of the Week following her stellar performance that helped the Eagles to a first-place finish at the University Athletic Association Championships. On Monday, she was picked as the UAA Player of the Week for the fourth time this year.

The 6-foot-1 Holler played in all 10 of the team's sets over three matches and paced the Eagles in kills (3.5 kps), hitting percentage (.574) and blocks (1.00 bps) en route to Emory winning its fifth conference title in eight years and seventh overall. One of her efforts saw her pound out a match-high 15 kills to go along with a .714 attack percentage (15-0—21) and four blocks in a 3-1 triumph over No. 14 Washington University in the semifinals.  Holler has racked up a total of 21 double-figure matches this year with double-digit kill totals, and paces the league with a hitting percentage of .397, good for the No. 10 position among all D-III players.

Career-wise, she holds down the No. 10 spot on the school's all-time ladder with 1,297 kills and is second in both attack percentage (.383) and total blocks (494).

Holler's selection represents the ninth time that an Emory player has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week Award. She joins Liana Roman (Oct. 14, 1996), Jennifer Naeger (Oct. 26, 1998), Lulu Sewell (Sept. 9, 2002), Courtney Rose (Oct. 25, 2004), Alysse Meyer (Sept. 9, 2008), Amelia McCall (Oct. 26, 2010), Breanah Bourque (Oct. 24, 2012) and Sydney Miles (Nov. 3, 2015) as past performers who have been tabbed for the honor.

Head coach Jenny McDowell and the Eagles, 30-5 overall return to action on Friday (Nov. 11) when they battle the College of New Rochelle in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Brockport Regional.
