Emory University senior Tara Martin was named to the Division III Volleyball Academic All-District Team Thursday afternoon as announced by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

The 2021 Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated for the award, student-athletes must have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher and be a starter or key reserve for their program.

Martin appeared in 110 of the team's 111 sets during the 2021 season, leading the Eagles to a 25-6 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Atlanta, Georgia Regional Final. Martin paced the team with 337 kills, good for a 3.06 kills per set average, while adding 185 digs, 23 assists and 39 blocks. Her 337 terminations were the most of any University Athletic Association performer this season. Martin racked up 10 or more kills in 20 of the team's matches including seven matches with 15 or more.

Earlier this season, Martin was recognized as an AVCA Third Team All-American, AVCA All-Region selection, named to the First Team All-UAA as well as All-Tournament Team berths at the Atlanta, Georgia NCAA regional, 2021 East-West Battle, Emory National Invitational and the Emory Classic where she also garnered tournament MVP honors.

Student-athletes named to Academic All-District Teams are automatically put on the national ballot with an opportunity to be selected as an Academic All-American. CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams for Division III will be announced on Thursday, December 16th.
