Emory Volleyball Rebounds with Sweep of Hendrix

The Emory University volleyball team bounced back Friday afternoon, defeating Hendrix College in a tidy seventy-one minutes at the WoodPEC in Atlanta.

As has been the case so far this season, the No. 6 ranked Eagles responded following a loss with a return to the win column as they swept the Warriors 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 to improve to 11-5 on the season while Hendrix fell to 8-8. Emory only trailed twice across the three sets as the team improved to 5-0 in games after a defeat.

Sophomore Madison Cail and junior Carly Wallace paced the Emory attack with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, as the Eagles hit .362 (43-9—94) as a team. Junior Amanda Meyer added eight kills and totaled four blocks with sophomore Alana Dawson contributing seven kills off the bench. Freshman Olivia Rabinowitz dished out 35 assists, her fifth game this season with 35 or more assists and fourth over the last five contests.

The Eagles did not trail in either the first or third sets and only trailed on the scoreboard twice in the early stages of the second set. The Warriors jumped out to the 5-3 advantage before Emory went on a 9-0 run with Wallace at the helm while serving and never looked back as the Eagles closed out the second stanza on a 22-8 run.

Next up, Emory travels to upstate New York for the third and final UAA Round Robin on Sunday in Rochester, New York. The Eagles are set to face Brandeis at 10:00 AM before taking on No. 8 ranked NYU at 2:00 PM.
