The Emory University volleyball team continued their winning streak on Friday night in Atlanta, Georgia defeating the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels in three sets with a line of 25-14, 25-19, 25-15.

The No. 9 ranked Eagles start the season with a 7-0 record, the eighth time in team history and the first since 2015, and have played just two matches over three sets. Almost everyone saw playing time in the match, but sophomore Kaya Monrose rose to the occasion recording nine kills on the day, the fifth best of her career. Senior Amanda Meyer had one of the best hitting percentages on the day with a .667 percentage (6-0--9) while junior Deborah Hong continues her search for 1,000 career digs posting 15 tonight.

The first set was a close battle between the two Atlanta schools with Monrose leading the way in kills to a 13-10 lead. From there, the Eagles took off going on a six-point scoring run towards the end of the set before junior Alana Dawson finished the set with a kill.

The Stormy Petrels tried to fight back in the second set down 10-6 at the first timeout. Emory was able to take a 15-9 lead before Oglethorpe scored three points to bring the score to 15-12. The rest of the set was back-and-forth before the Eagles secured the match on a service error from the Stormy Petrels.

Emory dominated the third set taking a 6-1 lead into the first timeout of the set before another four-point scoring run to take a 10-2 lead. The scoring continued with a seven-point run giving the Eagles a 20-6 lead towards the end of the match. Oglethorpe tried to mount a comeback at the end but the Eagles shut it down with a 25-15 win in set three.

Emory is set to see their first glimpse of UAA play on Saturday, September 23 at 12 pm where they will face Chicago followed by Rochester during the first day of the season's first UAA Round Robin.
