Volleyball Takes Road Win over #12 Berry

The Emory University volleyball team defeated the No. 12 ranked Berry Vikings on Saturday night on the road with a 25-22, 25-18, 29-27 line.

The No. 6 Eagles improve to 11-0 on the season, just the second time in team history, the first coming in 2015. Senior Carly Wallace found her grove leading the team with 13 kills while junior Lily Martin tallied 13 as well, leading the team with a .310 hitting percentage (13-4--29). Sophomore Olivia Rabinowitz totaled 23 assists on the night placing her just 18 away from 1,000 in her career. Junior Deborah Hong continued her impressive season notching 20 digs on the night.

The first set of the night started close with the Eagles holding a 10-5 lead at the first timeout. Emory was able to capitalize on attack errors from the Vikings towards the middle of the set and held a 17-13 lead at the second timeout. The kills went back and forth at the end of the set with each team fighting to break the tie. A kill from Martin ended the set 25-22.

Another back and forth battle between the teams took place in the second set with Emory taking a 13-8 lead into the first timeout. Kills from junior Madison Cail and Martin ended the second set with a 25-18 score. The Eagles started strong in the third set holding a 16-11 lead in the middle of the set before the Vikings went on a five-point run bringing the score to 18-16. The set was tied six times until kills from Cail and Wallace gave the Eagles the lead and the match.

Emory will be back in Atlanta on Friday, October 6 to face Maryville at 5 pm before heading to Chicago, Illinois for the second UAA Round Robin tournament.
