Junior Tess Gallegos helped the Emory
women’s cross country team to a first-place finish out of 10
teams at the Sewanee Invitational (Sept. 4). Gallegos topped
the 104-runner field with a 6k time 22:15.6, six seconds ahead of
runner-up Taylor Stephens of Rhodes College.
Gallegos spearheaded an Eagles’ effort that saw the team
claim five of the top 10 individual finishers. Emory, ranked
35th nationally, recorded 25 points at the Invitational
while Rhodes, ranked 30th on the national scene,
finished second with 33 points.
