Silver Race Results
The Emory University women's cross country program, ranked
33rd nationally in Division III, turned in a fine
showing at the Great Louisville Classic. The competition was held
at Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Eagles had teams in both the Blue and Silver Races. In
the Blue Race, Emory finished second out of 34 teams, while in the
Silver competition, the Eagles captured third place out of 28
teams.
In the Blue Race, Emory totaled 174 points and trailed only Grand
Valley State University’s top mark of 75 points. GVSU
is the No. 2-ranked team in the NCAA Division II ranks. Lee
University (175 pts.) was right behind Emory while the University
of Evansville (216 pts.) and King College (224 pts.) rounded out
the top five team finishers.
Senior Natalie Fenn produced a team-best 5k time of 18:51 that
placed her 16th overall in the 287-runner field.
Junior Sara Gelb was the No. 2 Emory contestant to cross the finish
line with her time of 18:57 good for 24th place.
Sophomore Melanie Frank clocked in with at 19:14 which ranked her
40th. Rounding out the team’s scorer in the
meet was junior Sabrina Jeppson (19:23, 47th) and
freshman Sarah Klass (19:24, 52nd).
In the Silver Race, the Eagles finished with 172 points and trailed
Lipscomb University (21 pts.) and Campbell University (142
pts.). Valdosta State (179 pts.) and Lindsey Wilson (197)
were the squads behind Emory and who rounded out the top five.
Senior Jenny Feinberg paced the pack with a time of 20:23 that
slotted her 24th out of 235 entries. Sophomore
Christina Cardy was the next Eagle to finish with her showing of
20:35 good for 26th position. Maryclaire
Regan was the squad’s third runner to finish among the top 30
with her effort of 20:40 enabling to nail down 28th
place. Junior Paulina Belsky (20:59, 40th) and
Rachel Borelli (21:50, 78th) closed out the team’s
scorers.
Emory returns to action next Saturday (Oct. 9) when it runs at the
JSU Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Alabama.
