Junior Tamara Surtees helped the Emory women's cross country team to a first-place finish out of 18 teams in the Division II, III and NAIA race at the Furman Classic.
Surtees clocked a personal-best 6k time of 22:07 that placed her second overall in the 137-runner field (first scoring position), and highlighted a strong Eagles' effort that saw the team claim three of the top 10 overall finishers in the competition. It represented the second straight competition that she ranked as Emory's No. 1 finisher.
Emory finished with 50 points which bettered runner-up Mount Olive's effort of 68 points.
